The high density of large mammals in the Dzanga Sangha rainforest has produced a type of landscape that is favourable to a large diversity of mammals, and in a wider sense to a wealth of flora and fauna. Thus for example, forest buffalos are dependant on clearings created by elephants, in order to find adequate forage. The giant forest hog and the bongo equally favour these clearings.
